Every year the Early Times Chapter hosts a car show for members at the national convention, so bring your car and join the fun.
This past year the Early Times Chapter held a “car show within a car show” during the National Convention at Red Wing Minnesota. The show is open to all chapter members showing a 1926 to 1954 Pontiac in the stock classes. Normally there are three awards given each year, but in 2001 the host chapter wanted to do more and donated a fourth award, and so there were four winners to be honored. As anyone who went to this last convention will tell you the weather was a bit on the warm side and the humidity was plenty high as well, so just getting the ambition to put the car on the show field was a challenge. But the members of the Early Times Chapter are troopers and there were plenty of cars to look at before picking the winners.
The special award from the host chapter, a custom made Red Wing Pottery crock, was awarded to Arnold Landvoigt and his ‘26 Hill Climber racecar. Work continues on the car, but Arnold has made a lot of progress on this one of a kind automobile since it debuted at the Buffalo convention.
Bill Edsall came down from Port Sydney, Ontario, Canada with his ’47 convertible, a beautiful blue car with an eight-cylinder motor under the hood and took the first place award home with him.
The second place honors went to Charles Cushway from Big Rapids Michigan who brought a ‘29 gray 4 door to the show.
Third place honors went to the green ‘38 2 door sedan of John Hofmeyer from Fayette Iowa.
