Pontiac Oakland Museum in Pontiac, Illinois
Tim Dye, a long-time POCI member from Broken Arrow, OK recently announced that his personal collection of Oakland & Pontiac memorabilia would be the foundation of a new museum in Pontiac, IL.
Tim and his family are re-locating to Pontiac where he will serve as the museum director. In addition to his automobile collection, he is well known for his “petrolania” collection. Petrolania is anything and everything to do with petroleum products and marketing, like signs, oil bottles and old gas pumps.
Pontiac Illinois is situated on historic Route 66, which already serves the community as a tourism draw. The new Pontiac Oakland Museum will be located at 205 N. Mill Street. The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, July 23rd 2011.
